MVP Sourabh berichtet vom sehr erfolgreichen MAXX-Doppelturnier:
URW Ignites the Court with Unstoppable Wins!
On a sunny afternoon of 35 degrees URW members were fired up and ready for action after an intense summer of preparation. With 12 determined participants spread across 7 teams (7 in HD-A, 3 in HD-B, and 2 in DD-B) URW was poised for a day of fierce competition and triumphant victories.
The final tally was an impressive three podium finishes across two categories: 1st and 2nd place in HD-A and 1st place in the DD-B category. Here is the detailed commentary.
**DD-B:**
Michela and Amira were the dynamic duo representing URW in the DD-B category, and they didn’t just show up—they conquered! In a round-robin format with six teams, they swept through the competition, securing 1st place with flair. Aside from their final match, all their victories were straight-set wins, many with dominating score lines under 10 points. The electrifying support from the URW squad kept the energy high, ensuring their opponents stayed on the back foot throughout.
**HD-A:**
URW made a powerful statement in the HD-A category, with a commanding presence that saw three out of the four semifinalist teams hailing from the club: Ajay & Rahul, Himanshu & Sourabh, and Marian & Ray.
After tough group stage, Ajay & Rahul finished 4th after losing a close match in the semifinal against Himanshu & Sourabh.
Marian & Ray breezed into the final, while first-time partners Himanshu & Sourabh fought through a series of nail-biting matches to earn their spot. The grand final was a spectacular show of skill and determination, with both teams leaving it all on the court. Marian & Ray took the first set 21-16, but the second set saw Himanshu & Sourabh storm ahead to 19-12. Yet, with years of experience, Marian & Ray mounted a thrilling comeback, clinching the set 22-20 and taking the match with a final score of 21-17, 22-20.
Adding to the excitement, James and his first-time partner, Lasse from WBH, delivered a strong performance, finishing 9th after a tough group stage.
**HD-B:**
In the HD-B category, Felix & David narrowly missed out on the semifinals, landing in 6th place after a series of hard-fought matches. Roshan, teaming up with first-time partner Aabid from WBH Wien, secured 8th place. The showdown between the URW teams in the 5th-8th place bracket was a match to remember, with Felix & David emerging victorious in a thrilling three-set battle, ending with a scoreline of 20-22, 21-18, 21-17.
As URW’s reputation continues to rise among other clubs, these incredible results mark a fantastic kickoff to the new season, setting the stage for even greater achievements ahead!
